The New Book and the New Series
Good Monday, you Wonderful People!
How are you doing today? I am currently moving at a pace that could tell molasses in January to slow down! 😊  I had a guest all weekend and it's possible we stayed up kind of late a couple of times and perhaps even indulged in an adult beverage. Or two. 🎉 We also watched a ton of March Madness, though the games weren't all that great.
In the latest news, I'm about 90 pages in on the new book, which is tentatively titled New Book. Don't you love that title? The series of which it is a part is currently called New Series. Do you see the pattern? 🤣
The story picks up right after the Dragon Queen series concludes. So far it's mostly just Jarryd settling back into his old life, courting Kath, getting reacquainted with the townsfolk. It's really been more cozy fantasy than epic fantasy. I didn't set out to do that. It simply seemed right. After putting Jarryd through almost two years of misery (authors are sadistic people; we create characters just to torture them) it just seemed like he needed a break.
Still, there are rumblings on the horizon. The Dragon Queen might be cut off from the world, but there are plenty of nasty beasties and unpleasant surprises left over.
The plan is to bring Jarryd's story up to the point where they Catastrophic Event happens. Then we will leave his story and go to Qarath. There we will catch up with Netra, Rome, Quyloc, Aislin and others. Remember how Aislin promised the Lementh that she would go to their homeland under the sea and save them? (Because she has the essence of Golgath in her. It's all in Chaos and Retribution.)
After that, we will check in on Fen. How is life as king? How is the Wolf Pack doing? Is Ravin pregnant? Will the child have the same condition as Fen? After Fen, there's still Karliss. Shakre. Perhaps even Shorn will show up. (He's getting his own book right now, as you know.)
What is the Catastrophic Event, you ask? No spoilers, but I will tell you it has to do with the Ankharan sorcerers and maybe the Pente Akka. (Cue scary music.)
Peace,
Eric
